How to remove yourself
1
Pipl is now a B2B-only service. It no longer has a public consumer-facing website with searchable profiles.
Note: As of 2021, Pipl pivoted to selling API access to businesses (background check companies, law enforcement, fraud detection). Consumer opt-out of a public profile is no longer applicable.
2
If you believe a business is using Pipl's API to look up your data, submit a data request via pipl.com/privacy/ to understand what data Pipl holds about you.
3
Submit a "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" request via the Pipl privacy contact form if you are a California resident (CCPA applies).
Note: Non-California residents may have fewer formal rights, but Pipl handles requests on a case-by-case basis.
Will your data reappear on Pipl?
Pipl's data is sold to enterprise customers, not displayed publicly. Your data remains in Pipl's B2B database even after a removal request -- the removal means they will not sell it to new customers.
Things to watch out for
- ! Pipl is no longer a consumer search site -- your profile is not publicly searchable.
- ! Data requests and removals are handled by Pipl's legal/privacy team, not an automated process.
- ! Response times for B2B removal requests can be 30+ days.
- ! If you see your data appearing in background checks from HR companies, the source may be Pipl's API -- removing from Pipl is the right step to take.
